and im on my way to believing..

long time no speak.
dissertation is pretty much finished. i'll miss it! i like reading about art therapy, its so interesting.
im starting my project, focusing on the same theme of obsession. looking at collections, habits and traditions.
havent got much inspiration for drawing but hopefully once dissy is handed in i'll really get into it. well.. i say hopefully, i have no choise. this is the rest of my life.

i mean, gawd.

dissertation, dissertation, dissertation.
ive done my introduction and started one of my chapters.
im really enjoying it, its something i am very interested in and will use in future study. my question is
art or therapy: a consideration of the therapeutic method
but i might change it because art OR therapy makes it like an argument that will need to look at art and therapy as seperate things whereas i want to discuss art therapy and its use in prisons, schools and hospitals.
maybe something like
art therapy: a consideration of the therapeutic method in institutions?
dunno.

this time next year i'll be graduating. i will miss leeds, printed textiles and my girls so damn much.
3 weeks until deadline. im creating mixed media pieces [using screen prints, lino, foil, flock and disperse paper to introduce colour] as well as black and white illustrations which i thoroughly enjoy doing. im at my happiest doing a black and white illustration in black liner.

we did a recycling project at uni where we had to make an item more valuable.
people used old material to make bags, used sweet packets to make clothing and turned books into objects.
i chose to use an old english dictionary. i put old receipts, tickets, leaflets between the pages as well as writing a secret or memory or thought on every page, making it precious and valuable to me.
we had tea and cake and it was a good  little exhibition.

life is good.

project is going really well, im done doing a sad. im inspired all the time, creating drawings and designs relating to my theme of obsession focusing on collections.
im doing black and white illustrations using a linear style with detail. inspiration : see johanna basford.
colour wise im sticking to black and white, perhaps introducing an accent colour. inspiration :  see julie verhoeven and hennie haworth.

im so in love, that helps.

back at uni, so pleased.
really like my new desk space in the studio. much warmer than last year for a start.
been drawing from 'collections' - medals, stamps etc.
i need to do more detailed drawings to depict obsession rather than just drawing things people collect.
dissertation tutorial this week ARGH although im doing art therapy, something i am very interested in, so im hoping once i get going i'll really enjoy it. and i do love writing.
ive entered two competitions, the sustainability design competition for the textile institute and also submitted work for an exhibition at the arts factory. good for cv.
did another craft fair, didnt do as well as last time but sold some bookmarks and coasters (so maybe it was the mother who bought the coasters but whatevaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa).
